SOLD Animal Original Oil Paintings

What's Moo? 6 x 8" SOLD $600
These holstein dairy cows are a joy to paint, with their high contrast hides, no two alike. I discovered these grazing by an 8 foot tall cornfield outside of Bardstown, Kentucky on a hot summer day.

I Always Wanted One of Those! 8 x 10" SOLD $975
I always wanted a white tiger, a real one or a stuffed toy, when I was growing up. So, the title came easy. When I brought the painting to the art gallery, another artist exclaimed, "I always wanted one of those." I smiled, and showed her the painting's brass nameplate, inscribed with her exact words!

"Why Do I Have to Share Lunch with....?" 9 x 12" SOLD $1,195
Sometimes, you just don't get to choose your lunch mates. I came across these miniature donkeys and and angus calf in Oklahoma.

This small painting of some holstein dairy cows was sold by one of my galleries in Kentucky, and somehow wound up on a british website later. Maybe the cows went across the pond, instead of over the moon.

We were quite taken with the outdoor market at Seaside in Florida. It was a riot of colors, tasteful boutiques and tempting finds, shaded by large umbrellas. I spotted this elegant lady browsing the shoppes, too.

A family unfurls their beach umbrella in a burst of color on a white sugar sand shoreline. It was a steep climb down to the beach, that's when I spotted this happy family.

The stars and stripes along with other international flags, ripple in the warm breeze on Royal Street in New Orlean's French Quarter. Another colorful splash comes from the carriage's umbrella passing below.

The venerable Commander's Palace restaurant in New Orleans has created culinary legends and wonderful memories for decades. I sorted through many of my photos before selecting this perfect street view.

So Happy Together captures a happy family enjoying a beautiful day on a sugar sand beach, under their colorful beach umbrellas. I used my daughter as the model for the little girl, so cute!

Just Right! captures three young girls testing the water, and collecting shells in the shallow diagonal waves on Lake Michigan. Another special family moment that I couldn't part with.

Grandpa's Wisdom 9x12"

Grandpa's Wisdom shows a loving grandfather in a teachable moment with his grandchild, building sandcastles on a sunny beach. This was my father, always in teaching mode, with his youngest grandchild. I just couldn't part with this one.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun 11x14" NFS
Four young sisters and cousins create their own fun in the wet sand and shallow surf of Lake Michigan. Sorry, this is another family memory I just couldn't part with, but want to share as inspiration for you. (NOTE: This was a rare case where I just couldn't edit the colors to match the painting. It should be less yellow and more peachy and bluer water and sky).

What could be more soothing than a quiet canal in Venice, sparkling ripples shimmer as a gondola drifts silently by. Pastel hued buildings with grand arches surround the canal.

A classic canal view in Venice, taken from a small bridge spanning the narrow canal. The sun sparkles off the ripples, with cream and terra cotta hued buildings, and red accents on the gondolas at rest.

SOLD Towards the Light 14x11"
A narrow Venetian alley, just to the left of St. Marco's Cathedral and the famous clock, is a hidden gem. The light at the other end, from a small piazza, is blindingly brilliant. We stayed three days at the place under the sign, on the left.

A glorious golden morning at beautiful Keeneland race track, in Kentucky. This was one of those perfect paintings where everything just went so well. It was sold through a gallery in New York City.

A rare behind the scenes view of young horses returning to the barns after their world championship class in Louisville. This original oil painting was used to produce the same size limited edition prints. It has a dynamic wonderful design, yet peaceful colors and horses.

A young filly is led onto the backside of Churchill Downs, in Kentucky. She is all ears! This was a real gem, for such a tiny painting.

A dappled grey filly returns to the barns on a misty morning at Churchill Downs. The sun just came up, in a misty haze. I'll never forget the nice client who tracked me down as we were packing up our beloved home in Louisville. He bought it sight unseen, with no frame--just wanted my art!

A chestnut filly is lead into the first turn at Keeneland race track, with the morning sun shining on the grandstand and beautiful trees behind the trio. Lee Young loved Keeneland as much as I do--we connected over his Keeneland polo shirt, and our kids baseball team. He purchased this, and many others from me.

I take random photos at horse shows of whatever beautiful moments catch my eye. This outstanding late summer scene captured the beauty and connection of a magnificent friesian and his owners. Mary was so gracious, and invited me to tour and photo her farm. She lovingly purchased this and another painting I did from that photo shoot.

The winning jockey reaches up to remove his goggles, after a race as he crosses the paddock. He had a good trip--not much mud or dirt.

This painting had a personally sentimental appeal to both myself and a well known client. Both of our grandfathers started learning english by reading a bible, translating from arabic, just like the grandfather in this painting. The adorable grandchild just enjoys his company.

Chuckwagon cook, Sergio, selects the choicest cuts of beef for tenderness, over a smoldering fire. It requires lots of skill to maintain the correct heat. The stew was magnificent!

Macaira was a dancer that famous ballerina Yvonne Chouteau recommended as a model. She holds her Swan Lake costume.
This painting was beloved by my mother, and hung over her piano, on which friend Pee Wee King played his Tennessee Waltz. It was hard to part with, but went to someone who had personal memories of both inspirations. A happy home!

My beloved, brilliant father instructs his grandchild in the art of building sandcastles. I randomly asked for one of his hats, and later realized it was the same "Hurstbourne" hat in this painting! I still cherish both.

Rehobeth Beach 8x10" SOLD
Rehobeth Beach was a commissioned painting for our friends. The biggest challenge of the portraits was the fact that the sons' faces were the size of my pinkie fingernail! I finally "nailed it", but had to work for it.
